Two Inter-State Thieves Arrested for Laptop Thefts in Bengaluru PGs: 48 Laptops Worth ₹40 Lakh Recovered

In a major breakthrough, the Electronic City Police have arrested two individuals from Tamil Nadu involved in a massive laptop theft racket targeting Paying Guest accommodations. The police have recovered 48 laptops of various brands, estimated to be worth ₹40 lakh.The investigation began following a complaint filed on December 1, 2025. A resident of a PG on Abbayya Street, Doddathogur, reported that on the night of November 28, thieves entered their room through an unlocked door and stole three laptops belonging to him and his roommates.

Following a lead, the police team tracked down and detained the first suspect on December 11, 2025, at Mandavalli Circle in the Kallakurichi district of Tamil Nadu. During interrogation, he confessed to stealing laptops from various PGs across Bengaluru.Based on his confession, his associate was apprehended in Attibele on December 19. This accomplice was responsible for identifying targets and selling the stolen goods for profit.

  • A total of 48 laptops were seized: 33 from the suspects' residence, 9 sold to friends, and 6 recovered from Tamil Nadu.
  • This arrest has successfully solved 10 registered cases (9 in Electronic City and 1 in Bandepalya Police Station).
  • Efforts are currently underway to identify the rightful owners of the remaining 38 laptops.

The operation was carried out by Police Inspector Naveen G.M. and his team, under the guidance of DCP (Electronic City Division) Shri M. Narayana, IPS, and ACP Shri K.M. Satish.
